Tybalt
Tybalt is a memeber of the Capulet family : he is Juliette's cousin on her mother's side. He is a very violent charcater, always looking for a fight and has an easy trigger. He hates the Montague family like anyone would hate the devil. He is very protective towards Juliette and aggressive towards Romeo. He is fearless duting fights, arrogant and fahsionable. The pride of the Capulet is of a major importance for him : he is ready to give his life for honor. He always obeys his uncle though. I would not appreciate him as a friend, because of his violent temper and thirst for fight, though he would be a very loyal friend and ready to give his life for you.

I agree with your point of view on tybalt's attitude. Indeed, his lust for revenge is unsated especially when it's about the Montague family. Many quotes such as "Peace? Peace. I hate the word, as I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee. " show tybalt's constant deep hatred for them and stubborn nature.
RépondreSupprimerFuthermore, even if he has a seemingly minor role in it and does not speak many lines; Tybalt influences the entire course of the play. For instance, Tybalt's death resulted in romeo's banishment from Verona.
Although, it actually depends on your point of view, whether you see Tybalt as a murderer who caused the lovers to die or as just a boy who wanted to defend his honour by challenging his enemy and accidentally killed Mercutio.

I do agree with what you're saying vengeful is a good adjective to describe Tybalt. As they say in the description of the characters at the beginning of the book, Tybalt is a capulet, vain, fashianable, agressive, violent, and quick to draw his sword when he feels his pride hads been injured, he loathes Montagues. We can understand that Tybalt is Vain (like Romeo), always thirst for fight because of his violent temper and dislike the Montagues family.

I agree with you too. Tybalt is maybe the most violent caracter. I liked your comparison "He hates the Montague family like anyone would hate the devil" For the Capulet the Montaigues are like "the Devil" (inversely)
RépondreSupprimerI think that Tybalt is the source of Romeo's problems, in fact Romeo wanted the peace because he had just married Juliet. So he understood that fighting wasn't a good solution but Tybalt always wanted to fight!(to save his honor)
